Tawaf’s Beginnings

Its History

The seed was planted in the mind of the watch’s creator as he returned from the pilgrimage to Mecca, one of the five pillars of Islam.

Tawaf is a ritual, referring to the seven times that pilgrims walk around the Kaaba. This experience was so life-altering for the watch’s creator that he decided to give it form in an everyday object, which would travel with him through time.

An Idea Is Born!

Five years later, this inspiration became the Tawaf watchmaking brand in Geneva, with a first model by the same name.

The Tawaf is one-of-a-kind: the hands move anti-clockwise, in an allusion to the Tawaf ritual; minute details of Swiss watchmaking expertise blend with the spiritual influences of Islam; and lastly, production is limited to 99 units of 3 models, each series bearing one of the 99 attributes of God.

The Tawaf watch is the expression of an impassioned collaboration between the brand’s creator—an international businessman and knowledgeable collector—and Lionel Ladoire, a master watchmaker known for his originality and demand for technical excellence.

Coming on the heels of Tawaf’s success, a new model was in the works that would continue in the spirit of the brand with bold styling and unparalleled manufacturing.
